Regularly updating your password is essential for maintaining strong security. Many organizations and regulations mandate frequent password changes as part of their security policies. By routinely updating your passwords, you enhance security, adapt to evolving threats, and reduce the risk of unauthorized access and data breaches. If someone gains access to your password without your knowledge, regularly changing it can lock them out and prevent unauthorized access to your accounts.
Here are some best practices for creating a password:
- Length and Complexity: Use at least 8 characters and include a mix of upper and lower case letters, numbers, and special characters.
Avoid Common Passwords: Avoid using easily guessable passwords like "password123" or "123456".
Avoid Personal Information: Do not use easily obtainable information such as your name, birthdate, or common words.
Change Passwords Regularly: Update your passwords periodically, especially if you suspect they may have been compromised.
